Diego Ramirez is the President and founder of Stroke Scan Inc (SSI), the second most relevant mobile ultrasound, wellness company in the US. SSI was founded in 2001 and since then has saved thousands of lives. SSI’s headquarters are in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. Diego’s passion for helping others is a major driving force behind its success and importance in the wellness and preventive care healthcare sub-specialties. A great company can only succeed when its constituents are also equally dedicated to its Mission, which for SSI is saving lives. From 2001 to 2012, SSI focused its operations only in Texas. The company grew 3x during this period while maintaining a very conservative growth plan. In 2012, Diego’s vision of growing the company nationally was put into effect by bringing on new staff and expanding to a few states outside of Texas. 2014 brought major changes to the management structure and incrementing staff which was necessary to poise the company for an aggressive and organic growth plan to expand the company to over 40 states by 2019.

Before SSI: the Internet and Software Engineering: In the mid 90’s, the world was being taken over by the Internet. This was a very exciting time where everyone wanted to come into the digital age. Before being able to finish his Ph. D. in Physics, Diego changed careers in 1996. From 1996 to 2014, Diego worked at Chase Bank, Zefer Corp, and Compaq Computer Corp which soon afterwards became Hewlett Packard. In 1996, Diego was a software engineer (SE) building and designing web sites and Internet applications. Soon after that, he found his niche in the SE world, “Requirements Management”, which was understanding how to take business needs and processes and put that into the words needed for the software analysts to use for their designs. While at Chase Bank, Diego implemented their first Online Banking portal for their Private Bank clients in 1997. Diego received his PMI and Agile Scrum Master certifications in 2009 and 2012 respectively.

Education and Research: Diego was a researcher dating back to 1990 when he was a research assistant at the University of Houston, working under the world renown physicist and Nobel Prize nominee, Dr. Paul Chu, director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity. Diego completed his Bachelor of Science in Physics and Minor in Mathematics at the University of Houston in 1993. At that time, he entered the Ph. D. program in physics working as a research assistant on high-temperature superconductors and their behaviors under extreme high pressures. During this period Diego was included in multiple publications and patents. One of the publications is the very important work in 1994 which increased the temperature of a superconductor up to 164 Kelvin, which remained a world record up until 2015. In order to prepare for his dissertation, Diego also trained under H. K. Mao at the Geophysical Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution for Science. H. K. Mao, at one point, held the Guinness Book of World Records record for the highest laboratory pressure achieved by man using the diamond anvil cell.

Diego is a dedicated family man with two boys and the loveliest wife that is best described using his words, “she’s my angel that walks on this earth. It would take me three lifetimes to find such a special woman again!” Diego is passionate about music; he has been playing guitar and various other instruments since 1982. He has recorded many albums with different bands and has even played shows on the legendary Sunset strip in Los Angeles. Diego’s family is very fond of traveling and his favorite trip was a three week climb of Kilimanjaro and Safari’s in Tanzania and Ngorongoro Crater. His dreams are to continue his passion of growing SSP to save more lives and to travel to Antarctica.
